3 hour intro to sail.
Come along with Captain Justin on a 3 hour sail. Helm the boat and trim the sails in a relaxed and low stress intro to sailing experience. 2 person minimum, 5 maximum. Starting at $60 per person.
ASA 101
Spend a weekend learning to sail.
Become a sailor. Learn the language of sailing and practice essential skills like hoisting sails, tacking, and navigating safely on the water. Minimum class size 2 students, maximum class size is 4. 18-20 hour class. Starting at $600 per student. Includes ASA logbook, ASA 101 textbook and ASA 1 year membership.
ASA 103
An advanced class to learn more advanced techniques and boat systems.
Prepares sailors for more advanced and independent cruising aboard larger boats and longer days on the water. Minimum class size 2 students, maximum class size is 4. 18-20 hour class. Starting at $650 per student.

Our Location
RC Sailing School is located within Oak Orchard Yacht Club. We are between Rochester NY and Niagara Falls NY on Oak Orchard Creek just off the Lake Ontario State Parkway. This ideal location gives us access to the wonderful waters of Lake Ontario within just a few minutes of leaving the dock. You will experience the camaraderie of a boating community while learning to sail.
Our Boats
“rit” (Ritardando) is our 1982 Catalina 27.
It’s a Sturdy and safe platform for beginner and intermediate sailors taking ASA 101 and ASA 103.
For larger classes, advanced sailing lessons, ASA 104, and overnights we also have a 1982 O’day 34, Argo.
Our Instructor
Captain Justin Sircus has been working and playing on the water for most of his life. Growing up in South Florida brought many opportunities for water fun. From commercial lobster fishing in the Florida Keys to Search and Rescue operations with the Coast Guard there isn’t much he hasn’t seen out there. He brings a varied experience of sailing, teaching and delivering boats in the Great Lakes, the US East Coast, The Caribbean and the Mediterranean Sea.

How are Sailing lessons structured?
Classes will include dockside, Classroom and underway sessions. Weather will always be a factor in how a class will be structured. we will take advantage of good weather to get out on the water and may use bad weather time to concentrate on classroom lessons.
What materials are used in lessons?
Our classes are based on the ASA curriculum. those students who are able to read and study the relevant textbook will have a great advantage.
What will I need to bring for the weekend?
RC Sailing will provide all the safety equipment needed including lifejackets although you are welcome to bring your own. the right clothing is very important, staying dry and warm is crucial in bad weather and sun and heat protection equally Crucial for hot days on the water. a light lunch, water and snacks are also important for happy sailing.
